stephen king: Wizard and Glass (The Dark Tower, Book 4)
Favorite of the Dark Tower series. Who knew Stephen King could write such a beautiful love story? Can be read as a stand-alone book if you ignore the first chapter or so.
Orson Scott Card: Ender's Game
Classic--still one of my favorites.
Karen Marie Moning: Darkfever: The Fever Series
Great series--adult content. Starts off good but not amazing but then things get darker and darker and becomes really addictive!
Juliet Marillier: Daughter of the Forest
Beautiful and rich fairy tale. So good!
George R.R. Martin: A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire: Book One
Phenomenal fantasy series.
Cormac Mccarthy: The Road
Gorgeous writing style.
Carl Zimmer: Microcosm: E. coli and the New Science of Life
Non-fiction: Don't let the E. Coli part scare you off--this book is excellent and surprisingly fascinating.
Carl Zimmer: Parasite Rex Parasite Rex (with a New Epilogue): Inside the Bizarre World of Nature's Most Dangerous Creatures
Non-fiction: Weird and awesome
